Are your IFTA records audit-ready?

If your trucks cross provincial or US state lines, IFTA requires you to report the distance travelled and fuel purchased in each jurisdiction every quarter. Manual trip sheets are slow and error-prone, and missing records can mean penalties and extra tax at audit time.

Who files IFTA

Carriers running qualified motor vehicles in two or more jurisdictions: two axles over 11,797 kg (26,000 lb), three or more axles, or combinations over that weight.

Quarterly returns

Returns are due by the last day of the month after each quarter: April 30, July 31, October 31 and January 31.

Keep your records

Distance and fuel records must be kept for four years. Telematica stores your trip data for you.

How Telematica IFTA reporting works

1

Track every kilometre

GPS records each vehicle’s distance and route, including which province or state it was in.

2

Add your fuel

Bring in fuel card transactions or receipts so fuel purchased is matched to each vehicle.

3

Export your quarterly report

Download distance and fuel by jurisdiction, ready for your bookkeeper to prepare the return.

4

Keep records for audits

Trip data is stored securely so you can back up your returns if you’re audited.

Accurate data

Better data means better returns

Pair IFTA reporting with our SD45 Pro CAN bus tracker for fuel data straight from the engine, including fuel burn, refills, drains, idling and PTO use. Off-road and PTO records can also help your accountant with provincial fuel tax refund claims where they apply.
